C&F Additional Funding

C&F Additional Funding may be requested for clubs to use in support of various events and activities throughout the year.

C&F Pre-Approved Funding: No request is necessary so long as the club has re-registered by the end of the previous academic school year and is in good standing with AASL, and Student Government.


These funds are derived from the Student Activity Fee and are allocated based on a thorough review of submitted requests on a weekly basis.

Criteria for Approval

Each individual request will need to meet specific criteria as determined by C&F. To be considered for additional funds, a club must:

Spend External Funding

  • First spend down External Funds, where the remaining balance is either 20% of your starting balance, or $2,500 (whichever is lower) as of the first day of Fall 1.
  • Each club will be notified of their External Funds account balance at which they can begin to request C&F Additional Funding at the beginning of they year.

Spend Pre-Approved Funding

  • First exhaust the full $1,000 allocated from the C&F Pre-Approved Funding or, indicate the event planned will exceed the pre-approved amount.
  • Requests submitted prior to the complete expenditure of the $1,000 allocation will be held in pending status until the club's accounting books confirm that the $1,000 has been utilized and officially processed. Once this confirmation is established, the requests will be reconsidered for processing.
  • Approved and past events will show as Expenses and will calculate your Balance in your Accounting Books for ease of tracking how much left you must spend.

Create an Open Event

  • Provide evidence that the event is open/marketed to the entire SOM student body.

Provide a Detailed Overview

  • Adequately demonstrated a unique circumstance of need.

Below are some additional questions clubs should consider when submitting their budget requests to C&F:

Inclusion

How will this event/activity attract students from the entire SOM student body?

Development

  • How will event/activity further advance SOM's educational, professional, and social mission?
  • How might this event/activity further enhance SOM's visibility within the local, national, and international business community?

Initiative

  • How has the club demonstrated an active effort to reduce cost and considered alternative sources of funding before applying?

Bandwidth

  • Hundreds of events are planned throughout the school year. Clubs should consider the relevance, variety, and synergy of each activity event in the overall schedule of events at SOM.

Please note: While the policies listed above have been set forth by C&F, the Committee will continue to review and approve requests on a case-by-case basis given some of the unique circumstances of our established clubs that exist at SOM.

Review & Approval Process

C&F Additional Funding will be reviewed and approved by members of the Clubs and Finance Committee, AASL, and the Business Office on a weekly basis.

All decisions will be communicated each Friday. Requests must be submitted the Sunday before by 11:59PM.

Requests Under $1,000 or 75 Attendees

Reviewed & approved by C&F Committee

Requests $1,000-$4,000, or 0-15, Attendees, or 75-300 Attendees

Reviewed and approved by C&F Committee, and SG Exec Team

Requests Over $4,000 or 300+ Attendees

Reviewed & approved by C&F, C&F Committee, and full SG team

How to Request C&F Additional Funds

All requests are submitted through the "Budget Request" tool in your Club's Accounting Book

Go to your Club's Accounting Book tool in CampusGroups

Click on "C&F Additional Funds"

Click on "Budget Request" on the top right-hand corner of your screen

Fill out the detailed event information and details surrounding your request

Once Funds are Approved

Allocation

Funds, once approved, will automatically funnel into the club's Accounting Book in CampusGroups.

Unused Funds

Unused funds will not be carried over from year to year and will be pulled back into the Student Activity Fee fund. Leftover funds from an approved event will be pulled back to C&F after the event has occurred.
