External Sponsorships

There are two types of sponsorship for official SOM Student Organizations, each with their own process.

1. Sponsorship for Conferences and Case Competitions

2. General club sponsorship that provides branding for companies

Yale SOM's policy is that no alternative sponsorship process will be allowed for clubs.

General Club Sponsorship

Yale SOM offers one external sponsorship route for Clubs.

Organizations have the opportunity to select Clubs that they would like to support during the academic year, and can select multiple Clubs

Organizations provide a full-year sponsorship that increases a company's visibility to students and showcases support for a Club, its efforts and its members.

The funding will provide general support for activities of the sponsored Clubs.

In conjunction with the CDO, clubs may share sponsorship information with organizations.

External Sponsorship Levels

Silver Sponsor

$500

  1. Branding/logo features in all Club newsletters
  2. Acknowledgement at Club meetings

Gold Sponsor

$1,500

  1. Branding/logo features in all Club events* on the Club's website/CampusGroups
  2. Branding/logo features in all Club newsletters
  3. Acknowledgement at Club meetings
  4. Priority placement in Club materials, website, newsletter, etc. to market employer engagement events, job postings, etc.

The Process for Sponsorship

Below is a step-by-step guide on how external sponsorships are acquired:

    CDO kicks off marketing  Club sponsorship to organizations in Spring

    CDO communicates the sponsorship package and details in mid/late-Spring for the following academic year, as Club sponsorship is part of an organization's overall recruiting strategy.

    -  At this point, clubs can also update club website to link to updated package details.

    -  CDO reshares club sponsorship opportunities with employees throughout the summer

    -  In late summer, Development Office sends thank you letters to previous year's sponsors, and includes the package details for the coming year.

    Organizations Select Clubs for Sponsorship

    Organizations indicate sponsorship interest and can pick as many Clubs as they like at any of the sponsorship levels.

    Development Office Updates Clubs

    Yale SOM Development Office receives sponsorship interest and shares with the appropriate Clubs.

    Clubs Confirm or Decline Sponsor Interest

    Clubs will be given a set deadline to confirm or decline the proposed sponsorship. Clubs have complete autonomy to decline any sponsor they wish.

    Club Accepts the Funds & the Branding

    By accepting funds, Clubs agree to promote each employer according to the benefits outlined above. Clubs also agree to use received sponsorship money according to existing purchasing and funding policies, as set by Yale SOM.

    Important Information and Notes

    If an organization expresses the desire to sponsor your club, please share the Yale SOM sponsorship information website with the organization, cc'ing your CDO liaison and the Development Office and connect them to your CDO liaison.

Information for External Sponsors in Conferences

Conferences/Case Competitions hosted at Yale SOM must be funded externally. When considering sponsorships, students are recommended to plan early as they are required to have prospective sponsor lists reviewed and approved before confirmation. Additionally, solicitation of Yale SOM, alumni and individuals for sponsorship is not permitted.
