Student Organization Council Meetings

We hold bi-monthly sessions for the SOC. These are an opportunity to receive timely and pertinent updates from administration and the clubs & finance chairs, as well as an opportunity to ask questions and collaborate on improving the club leader experience.

Attendance is required for at least one club leader from every club to ensure clubs remain eligible to continue receiving funding from the Clubs & Finance Committee.

Club Leader Trainings

Every spring, AASL and various departments provide a 3-part series of Club Leader Trainings to help club leaders transition into their role, so they are prepared at the start of the following school year. Part of the club leader's role is to ensure they attend all of these sessions in order to fulfill their role and to avoid the club losing it's active-club status for the next academic year.

o At the start of the fall semester, AASL hosts a Club Re-Fresher Training to go over information provided in trainings in further detail, as well as provide additional updates if necessary.

Attendance is required for all incoming club leaders from every club. Club Leader Trainings are posted one year in advance on CampusGroups in AASL's portal.

Club Fair & Kickoffs

Each year at the beginning of Fall 1, SOM student clubs gather in the Evans Hall Courtyard to promote themselves to the entire student body at the Club Fair. Only SOM Clubs in good standing may participate in Club Fair. It is the responsibility of club leaders to participate in Club Fair, which takes place in the first week of classes. Club Fairs are posted one year in advance on CampusGroups in AASL's portal.

Clubs are not permitted to communicate with new students before Club Fair has occurred.

Special Interest Groups and the organizers of major events like conference and case competitions can join and promote at the table of their Parent Club.

After the Club Fair, SOM hosts a two-week period where clubs have an opportunity to host a club kick-off; an informational session to incoming students who may be interested in learning more about their club.
