To stay up to date on all Orientation related events and information, join the SOM Orientation 2025 Hub on the CampusGroups App which is available in the Apple App and Google Play Stores.

Punctuality

We have a full line up of programming throughout Orientation Week. Please make sure to arrive to all sessions on time.

Dress Code

Dress code throughout the week is casual.

Class photos will be taken on the first day of Orientation.

For the SOM Outdoors Sessions (Wednesday for MMS/MAM, Thursday for MBA), we encourage you to wear comfortable clothes and sneakers.

Weather

Orientation is held rain or shine. Should inclement weather preclude us from gathering outdoors for any of our sessions, we will provide you with an update day-of.

Please make sure to check your CampusGroups app and Yale e-mail for updates.

Lunch & Breaks

Each day, lunch and morning/afternoon snacks are provided. We try our best to accommodate all dietary restrictions, though you are welcome to bring your own food and snacks.

The Student Kitchen located in the Student Commons on the first floor, containing refrigerators and microwaves available for use.

Name Plates & Badges

You will receive a name plate and name badge at the beginning of Orientation. Please hold onto both, as you will continue using them throughout your time here.

Should you require another one, you will need to purchase a replacement.

Honor Code

Honesty and integrity build the trust essential to a free and lively exchange of ideas.

The Yale SOM Honor Code is intended to foster the school’s exceptional learning environment and to support conduct that will distinguish the faculty, staff, and students in their lives as managers, at school, at school-related functions, and in the larger management community.

Alcohol Policy

Orientation will include a Welcome Reception where food and alcohol are served. SOM's Alcohol Policy includes:

  • A two-drink maximum per guest. Wristbands will be provided to each guest that will serve as their drink tickets. Wristbands are non-transferrable to other guests.
  • Alcohol may only be served to guests 21 years and older.

Building Access

Your Student ID will provide you with entry into Evans Hall. Scan your ID each time you enter the building.

SOM cares about creating a sustainable environment. Our Orientation site has a page dedicated to sustainability information at SOM, broader Yale, and in New Haven which we encourage you to check out.

The MacMillan Center is Yale’s hub for interdisciplinary international activities. From classes and certificates to events and cultural celebrations, there is always something happening at our central location: Luce Hall, 34 Hillhouse.
