Opportunities to get involved locally and virtually

New Haven Opportunities:

Skills-based Volunteering at Yale:

Skills-Based Volunteering at Yale is partnering with the MBA Response to staff students on short-term (<3 month) projects needing MBA skillsets across the country. There's a huge variety of options, ranging from operations upgrades for food pantries to strategy for startups addressing various parts of the pandemic. This is a great way to apply your MBA (and pre-MBA) in interesting ways, do some social good, and get a taste of different types of roles if you're still exploring.Once you've signed up, you'll be able to browse projects, submit a proposal (i.e. your resume and a blurb if you wish), and get started! You can sign up with a Yale.edu email here.

Additionally, sometimes we'll have Yale-specific or time sensitive volunteer opportunities. To join our internal roster of Skills Based Volunteers, complete this form.

Yale VITA:

Yale VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) is a low commitment, high impact opportunity to give back to the community by helping low income New Haven residents do their taxes. Last year, Yale VITA volunteers helped 1,170 clients get $2,103,376 back in refunds (an average of $1.8K per household). COVID-19 has taken an enormous toll on low-income communities; this year refunds will be critical to meeting basic needs. Anyone can volunteer regardless of their location or enrollment status, but this role is perfectly suited for SOMers. Questions or want to get involved? Post and ask questions at #vita-volunteers on SOM Slack.

New Haven Help with COVID:

Our partners at New Haven Help with COVID also have a robust listing of additional volunteer opportunities. New Haven Help with COVID is an organization founded by Yale graduate students that pairs our community members looking for volunteer opportunities with local nonprofits. Sign up for their weekly newsletter to stay up to date.
