Yale University is a military and Veteran friendly community.  From visiting War College Fellows at the Jackson Institute for International Affairs to students throughout the University’s colleges and professional schools, from Yale College, to the School of Forestry and Environmental Science, to the Law School, to the Divinity School.

Yale is proud to have General (ret.) Stanley McChrystal as a Senior Fellow and Yale SOM is proud to have Brigadier General (ret.) Tom Kolditz leading the schools’ leadership development program. The Law School and SOM both have Veterans’ Clubs, and the Yale Student Veterans Council serves as a University-wide organization for Veterans across Yale.  Navy and Air Force ROTC are both on campus, and Yale participates in the University of Connecticut’s Army ROTC program (with the satellite program at the University of New Haven).  Finally, most Yale veterans participate in the Yale Veterans Association (YVA), a newly formed 501c3 non-profit organization connecting Veterans students, faculty, staff, and alumni.  The organization’s mission statement is below:

“The Yale Veterans Association (YVA) is a non-partisan, non-political organization comprised of members of the Yale community – including alumni, students, faculty, and staff – who have served or are currently serving in the Armed Forces of the United States or its allies and their supporters.  Its mission is to leverage the strengths, talents and dedication of its members and friends to uplift and support fellow veterans, and to cultivate leaders for military and public service.  Activities include aiding wounded and at-risk veterans, supporting ROTC and military education programs, organizing military-related programs and activities, and fostering camaraderie among veteran communities.”
