Our mission as the Private Equity & Venture Capital Club is to raise the profile of the Yale School of Management ("SOM") in the private capital community and support members with access to education, practical training, and networking opportunities to accelerate their career development in this space.

We focus on three core pillars: delivering robust education to our community, providing hands-on learning opportunities, and facilitating career connections for those looking to transition into the field.

PE/VC Legal Deep-Dive ft. Wiggin and Dana LLP

Adam Silverman, J.D. and R. J. Kornhaas J.D., two partners from Wiggin and Dana LLP, will join us on campus to share their insights in corporate transactions, strategic investments, and entreprenuership from a legal perspective. Join us to learn more! Speaker Bios: Adam is a start-up lawyer, advising growth-stage companies and their investors on the legal aspects of their businesses. He is a Partner in the firm’s Corporate Department and a member of wiggin(x). Adam advises clients on a range of cradle-to-exit matters, including formations, company financings, commercial agreements, mergers and acquisitions, and governance matters. He views himself as a true business partner to his clients and regularly leads a team of lawyers providing outside general counsel services to clients. Adam works across a broad array of industries, including technology, life sciences, climate and clean tech, manufacturing, and health tech and telehealth, with a focus on advising early-stage companies. Adam also counsels clients on federal regulatory clearance of mergers and acquisitions through compliance with the Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) Act. Before joining the firm, Adam was an associate at Greenberg Traurig, where he advised clients on regulatory, transactional, and litigation matters related to environmental law. Prior to that, he worked in the music industry as a manager and record label executive. Adam received his J.D. cum laude from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law where he was an Associate Editor of The Cardozo Arts & Entertainment Law Journal. He received his B.A. in English from the University of Connecticut. R.J. is a Partner in the firm’s Corporate Department, where he advises clients on a broad range of corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and debt financing, commercial agreements, governance and general corporate matters, across multiple industries that include technology, life sciences, financial services, manufacturing, digital media, consumer products and food and beverage. He is also a member of wiggin(x) and is Co-Chair of the Family Office and Strategic Investments Practice Group. R.J.’s clients include early-stage companies and privately and publicly held middle-market companies. He also advises family offices and high net-worth individuals in connection with private and venture investments. Representative matters include direct and fund investments, ranging from early-stage SAFE and Seed rounds, to leading priced rounds and guiding investors through exit transactions. R.J. received his J.D. with honors from Emory University School of Law and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Notre Dame.

Faculty Speaker Series: LBO Modelling by Prof Josh Cascade

Prof Joshua Cascade is a private equity investor with over 25 years of industry experience. Cascade has led or co-led leveraged buyout transactions representing over $2 billion in aggregate acquisition value. Cascade was most recently a Managing Partner at Wellspring Capital with a 16-year tenure at the firm. Prior to Wellspring, Cascade was a member of the investment team at Odyssey Investment Partners. He began his career at The Blackstone Group in 1994, after earning an undergraduate bachelor’s degree in business administration at the University of Michigan. Since 2018, Cascade has taught a private equity course to MBA candidates at the Yale School of Management and undergraduate business students at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.
