Buying and Selling Your Gear
- Whitey Bensen (recommended) - Specialty hockey store in West Haven, CT that offers a wide selection of new and used gear
- Keep an eye out for an email in September about Whitey Bensen Weekend - members of the SOM Hockey Club get 10% off gear and staff are on hand specifically to assist club members
- You can sell your used gear back to Whitey Bensen for a gift card, which can then be sold to other SOM students through the equipment exchange doc
- SOM Hockey Club Equipment Exchange - Google doc that facilitates the purchase of used gear from other SOM students
- You can sell your used gear to other SOM students by posting it at the end of the hockey season
- Traditional sporting stores and online retailers, e.g. Dick's Sporting Goods, Sports Authority, Amazon
Maintaining Your Gear
- Air out your gear after every practice and game
- Adjust your helmet and re-tape your stick as needed
- Optional: sharpen your skates (you can do this at Whitey Bensen)
- You likely won't need to get your skates sharpened if you're only skating once a week at practice
Storing Your Gear
- If you don't have space at home to store your gear, you may leave it in the SOM locker room or designated storage area in the garage
