  • Policies & Procedures

    During the Trip:

Students are to behave in a manner consistent with Yale's reputation for excellence. Students are expected to act as ambassadors for the University and remember that their behavior reflects on the University as a whole.

Arrive on time: You are responsible for getting yourself to your trip's designated meeting spot (usually the hotel lobby) by early evening on the start date of your trip (please confirm trip start date with faculty and/or TAs before you book your flight). You are responsible for air travel and transportation to and from airports at the start and end of the trip (intra-trip flights and airport transportation are included and booked by Yale SOM on your behalf). If you think you will be late (i.e., flight delays), please notify your TAs and the AASL emergency email address.

Trip meetings: Absences from trip meetings will affect your grade. Similarly, unprofessional behavior during meetings, tardiness and other irresponsible behavior while overseas will impact your grade. Students are expected to remain engaged at all times during meetings and business functions. Laptops will not be permitted at business meetings/functions and cell phones should be turned off. Missing class sessions will also jeopardize your eligibility to travel. If you become ineligible to travel due to missed classes you will forfeit your GSA and the points used to secure your spot in the course.

Group activities: There will be group activities that are required, and some that are not. If a group activity is not required and you decide to opt out, you must inform one or more of the TAs of your plans. Students will not be credited financially for any non-required activities they opt out of. Required group activities must be attended except under the circumstance of illness.

    After the Trip:

Complete trip survey: Please complete the trip survey that will be sent to you in early April.

  • Meals

    • SOM will provide an average of 2 meals a day, with breakfast each morning being considered one of the two. Some meals will be group meals and attendance may be required.
    • If meal attendance is not required, students may opt out of a group meal, however, they will be responsible for the cost of the meal and will not be reimbursed.
    • AASL will attempt to accommodate any and all dietary requirements when making arrangements for group meals. If you have any special dietary needs please make them known to AASL.
