The mission of the SOM United Soccer Club is to provide a source competition, fitness, and camaraderie for SOM students. The group maintains two teams: a competitive team ("Business") and a recreational team ("Society"). The team plays year-round, practicing both outdoors and indoors and competing in tournaments throughout the year. All SOM students and partners are welcome.
Practices and Intramurals
The SOM United team practices about once a week at either Wilbur Cross Athletics Complex (turf) or Rice Field (grass), both about a mile away from Evans Hall. In the winter, we move indoors to turf fields and also play futsal at Payne Whitney Gym.
The SOM United team also competes in intramurals against other Yale graduate schools in the fall and spring. The team competes in two divisions: "Business" (the competitive team) and "Society" (the recreational team).
Tournaments
The team attends a few soccer tournaments throughout the fall and spring semesters. Highlights from the 2023-2024 season include tournaments at Columbia, University of Texas-Austin, and Harvard. (The Yale SOM United team won the Harvard tournament in Spring 2024!)
For the 2024-2025 season, the team plans to bring back the Yale Cup, a tournament hosted by Yale in the fall.
