Wine lovers have had enough fun in SOM.
SOM Coffee Lovers!, the time is your now. Wake your senses before you reach for that cup of coffee. Learn the charactersitics of coffee - Body, Acidity, Flavour, Aroma - in a guided coffee tasting session with Sean Ben-Zvi from Joe Coffee Roasters in NYC.
In this event, we'll be doing what coffee professionals call a cupping; a standardized way of assessing a multitude of coffees and their distinct qualities side by side. All coffees are prepared and brewed in a consistent manner all at one time so the only varying experiences are the coffees themselves. This is a great way to assess the differences between light, medium, and dark roasts as well as attributes gained from different origins and processes. Your instructor, Sean, has been in specialty coffee for 6 years, and has led many cuppings in her career. She is not only a full-time coffee educator, but is also a highly competitive individual. She has competed in barista and latte art competitions over the last 4 years and generally loves spreading the good word of coffee.
