Africa Salon Presents: Continents in Conversation

 When: Saturday, January 23, 2016 
Where: Common Room, Luce Hall, 34 Hillhouse Avenue, New Haven
What: Continents in Conversation is a literary festival and complement to AFRICA SALON 2016. The half-day event features three intimate, interactive sessions with internationally renowned African and African diasporan authors. Admission is free but advance registration is mandatory
 
9:30 a.m.: Breakfast 
10-11 a.m.: What is African Literature? Session with Jack Mapanje, Maaza Mengiste, and Okey Ndibe
11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m.: Nationalism and Reality Session with Kia Corthron, Margie Orford, and Chika Unigwe
12:15-2 p.m.: Delicious catered lunch
2-3 p.m.: Luxury of Youth Session with Aminatta Forna, Chigozie Obioma, and Clemantine Wamariya

Writing Violence: the Ethics and Aesthetics of Writing Crime in Post-Apartheid South Africa
