Fireside Chat with Ambassador William J. Burns

The Blue Center for Global Strategic Assessment will host a fireside chat with Ambassador William J. Burns, the 8th Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. He will be joined in the discussion by John Lewis Gaddis, the Robert A. Lovett Professor of Military and Naval History. 

Ambassador Burns will discuss his time leading the CIA from 2021 to 2025, the role of the intelligence community in American statecraft, and the technological and political changes revolutionizing intelligence today.

Prior to becoming the director of the CIA, Ambassador Burns served for 32 years in the U.S. Foreign Service, including as the Deputy Secretary of State, Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs, Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, Ambassador to Russia, and Ambassador to Jordan. From 2014 to 2021, he served as the president of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
