Join Jill McSorley, SOM's Director of Facilities, on a walkthrough of Evans Hall focused on its sustainability features. Evans Hall was built as a LEED Gold Certified building in 2007 and has undertaken initiatives to continuously improve its sustainability ever since. Learn more about efforts like the migratory bird film on the east face of Evans Hall, the energy-saving measures of the building's occupancy sensors, how waste is sorted, and more.
Meet in front of Snyder Forum at 11:45 for the tour.
5:00 PM – 6:30 PM
Learn how to breathe new life into your beloved clothing and outdoor gear! We’ll have experts on hand to teach you the art of repairing apparel, as well as sewing kits for you to take home. Bring any clothes as well as fabric gear (tents, backpacks, sleeping bags, etc.) you'd like to repair to the workshop with you.
4:30 PM – 5:30 PM
Pick up a special Earth Week gift, courtesy of AASL, aimed at reducing your consumption of single-use plastics. Bring your new gift with you to future club and school events so we can fight food waste and unnecessary plastic waste together!

SOM’s Sustainability Committee is opening our very own pop-up Little Free Library in Evans Hall for Earth Week!
How does it work?
Bring your old books to swap the week before Earth Week and during Earth Week itself – leave them at our table in front of Ross Library. During Earth Week, we’ll have a diverse array of previously loved books on display, as well as some new books on environmental topics (courtesy of AASL). Feel free to take a book – even if you didn’t bring one. The goal of this event is to reduce unnecessary purchasing, promote a circular book economy, and help you find your next great read!
What should I bring?
Any books in good condition from any genre!
If you’ve read the book, feel free to use the Post-It notes and pens we’ve provided to write a mini-review: tell others if you’d recommend the book, why you loved (or didn’t love) it, and what books or other media it reminded you of.
Happy reading!
Questions? Email or Slack Julie Siepka or Lauren D’Souza.
