Connecticut Innovations | Venture Investing in Tech, Biotech & AI/Q

The PE/VC + Design & Innovation clubs are excited to host investors from Connecticut Innovations, the State of Connecticut’s venture capital arm supporting early-stage technology and life sciences companies across the region.

Joining us will be:
- Gwen Cheni, Director leading CI’s AI and Quantum Technologies fund
- Megha Unhelkar, Director on CI’s biotech investment team
- Danny Qiao, Senior Associate focused on technology, consumer products, and portfolio support

Together, they will share how CI approaches venture investing across technology, biotech, and emerging areas like AI and quantum, while balancing financial return with Connecticut’s broader innovation and economic development mission. The discussion will cover how CI evaluates startups, works with founders and co-investors, and what it’s like to invest at the intersection of public mission and private capital.

We’ll also spend time on career pathways into venture capital and operating roles, particularly for students interested in early-stage investing and deep tech.

This session will be conversational and interactive, with time for Q&A at the end.
