Julie Kim is the president of Takeda’s U.S. Business Unit, U.S. Country Head, and a member of the company’s Executive Team. She oversees a diverse portfolio that includes gastroenterology, neuroscience, plasma-derived therapies, and rare diseases. Having joined Takeda through its acquisition of Shire in 2019, Julie has held various leadership roles, culminating in her position as president of the Plasma-Derived Therapies Business Unit before assuming her current role in 2022. With over three decades of experience in health care, Julie’s global leadership has spanned therapeutic areas, marketing, and emerging markets across Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
Julie is known for her collaborative leadership style, fostering diverse teams that prioritize patient-centered decision-making. Her global perspective, shaped by her international career and time living in the U.K., Switzerland, and the U.S., has been key to driving innovation at Takeda. A dedicated community leader, Julie has served on the Massachusetts Governor’s Economic Development Planning Council and was appointed to the Boston Public Library Board of Trustees. She is also a board member of PhRMA, Croda International, and the Council of Korean Americans.
