Whether you are a career switcher or have worked in finance prior to business school, our club is designed to ensure that you are fully prepared for a career in financial services. The following is a brief list of benefits, events, and training you can expect throughout the recruiting season:

1 On 1 Career Coaching
Selected 2nd year students serve as Career Coaches to assist first-years in their career search process by coaching students through the job search process, partnering closely with the CDO staff, leveraging industry / function-specific knowledge and personal experience.

Bloomberg Training
MBA students get personal Bloomberg accounts and have unlimited access to the brand new terminals located at the School of Management. In recent years, SOM has brought in Bloomberg instructors for training sessions demonstrating features and uses of the terminal.

Case Competitions
Each year Yale SOM participates in numerous case competitions focusing on restructuring, investment banking, stock pitching, and other related topics.

Case Study Presentations by IBD Professionals
The finance club frequently invites alumni to speak to current students on the dynamics of investment banking transactions. These events are a way for students to find out how deals evolve from the idea phase to the execution phase, and all the challenges in between.

Informational Interview Preparation
1st year students will get the chance to meet with career coaches and members of the finance club for formal and informal interview prep. This will allow students to practice and sharpen their story, and allow the 2nd years to provide feedback where extra preparation is needed.

Investment Banking Modeling Bootcamp
In recent years, a number of firms have run investment banking modeling sessions to educate students on valuation methodology.

Mock Interviewing (ongoing)
Students will participate in multiple mock interviews and receive feedback on answers to behavioral and technical questions. Mock interviews are scheduled with second year students, 3rd party consulting firms, as well as alumni.

Coffee Chats
Each year, a number of Wall Street firms will come to Yale SOM to hold coffee chats with students. These events allow students to engage with prospective employers in a one-on-one formal setting. This is a great opportunity for students to learn more about the culture and work experience at each firm.

Resume Writing workshops
Finance club leaders will review each resume before 1st year students start the networking process. Feedback will be provided on a timely basis so that students have plenty of time to gear their work experience and toward finance recruiting.

Training The Street (“TTS”) Courses
Students are given the option to participate in TTS courses set up by the Finance Club in both the Fall and Spring semesters. Courses vary and cover topics such as Corporate Valuation and Financial Modeling (2-day course). Current students are strongly encouraged to take these classes to cement their technical knowledge for interviews and summer internships.

Wall Street Treks (Days on Wall Street "DOWS")
Current students participate in CDO-sponsored treks to NYC-based banks with strong relationships to Yale SOM. During the Fall semester, we visit 12+ banks over the course of several days for networking events, coffee chats, case studies, and corporate presentations.
