About Us
We are interested in cannabis for many reasons including the impact of the War on Drugs in communities of color; the growing concerns about environmental impacts; and the proliferation of innovative products and services in this emerging industry. Notwithstanding the growth of this space and the national conversation surrounding it, we are surprised to find that management professionals outside of the industry rarely have sound knowledge or appreciation of the opportunities present in the business of legal cannabis. The more we delved into this topic, the more we felt inspired to organize a community which would accomplish the following: provide a holistic overview of the cannabis space, its history and potential futures; highlight the exciting breadth and diversity of career opportunities; and—importantly— focus attention on key issues of social equity as cannabis moves further into the mainstream Here at the Yale School of Management, our mission is to “build leaders for business and society.” We feel that Yale is the ideal setting for this multidisciplinary conversation regarding the space of legal cannabis. Beyond providing education and exposure, one of our main goals is to help set the tone for those of us considering entering this burgeoning industry in order to emerge as future leaders.
