Written by Sanaz Toossi and directed by Arya ShahiBound, four adult students gather in an Iranian classroom to prepare for the TOEFL exam. As they strive to perfect their English—grappling with grammar, pronunciation, and fluency—the classroom becomes a space where Farsi is quietly suppressed. The Pulitzer Prize-winning play explores connection, assimilation, and the intersection of language and identity, asking audiences: What do we gain when we learn a new language, and at what cost? When we learn another voice, do we leave our own behind?
