About Brooke:
Brooke Davis Anderson is the Executive Director of VIA Art Fund, a national philanthropic coalition of individuals and family foundations providing commissioning funds for ambitious, innovative, and thought-provoking public works of art. To date, VIA has awarded 200+ grants totaling $8m+ leveraging a new art funding model, a bottom-up approach based on donor agency and democratic decisionmaking.
A seasoned arts leader with over 30 years of experience, Anderson is known for championing inclusion and collaboration across the cultural sector. She previously served as the Edna S. Tuttelman Director of the Museum at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA), where she advanced the representation of women and artists of color. From 2013 to 2017, she led Prospect New Orleans as Executive Director and earlier oversaw the Curatorial Diversity Initiative at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. As founding Director and Curator of The Contemporary Center at the American Folk Art Museum (1999–2010), she curated landmark exhibitions on artists such as Martín Ramírez and Henry Darger. Anderson has also taught as an assistant professor at Winston-Salem State University and is widely recognized as a curator, writer, and advocate for African American art.
