Mariët Westermann is the CEO and Director of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, overseeing the global Guggenheim Museum constellation, including museums in New York, Bilbao, Venice, and soon, Abu Dhabi.

Trained as an art historian, she previously served as Vice Chancellor of NYU Abu Dhabi from 2019 to 2024, overseeing the development of graduate programs such as the one-year Stern @ NYU Abu Dhabi MBA program.

She was Executive Vice President at the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation from 2010-2019, served as the initial Vice Chancellor and Provost at NYU Abu Dhabi from 2007-2010, and as Director of NYU's Institute of Fine Arts from 2002-2007.
