Social Impact Lab: Impact Finance, Using MBA Skills for Growth and Good

Join Social Impact Lab for a conversation with Margaret Berger Bradley '93, Principal of Ginger Root Strategy, and Carol Tsoi '18, Director of Acquisitions at Red Stone Equity Partners, moderated by Professor Judy Chevalier.

Together, Margaret and Carol will show just how wide the field of impact investing really is -- far beyond the social-enterprise equity deals many students might picture first. Drawing on decades of combined experience across community development finance, affordable housing, and mission-aligned investing, they'll walk through the range of capital tools and career paths available to those who want to put finance skills to work for impact, both in a day job and beyond it.

The discussion will include time for Q&A on how to build a career at the intersection of capital and community impact.

About Margaret:
Margaret Berger Bradley is a Philadelphia-based leader in impact investing and community finance with over 25 years of experience bridging public purpose with market discipline. Now as Principal of Ginger Root Strategy, she aligns capital with purpose to drive equitable growth, including founding the first regional hub of Invest for Better Philadelphia to mobilize women as values-aligned investors. She is a founding board member of ImpactPHL, formed to grow the impact investing ecosystem in the Philadelphia region, incubated at Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania, where she was Vice President of Strategic Initiatives. Her career includes executive leadership roles with The Reinvestment Fund, a leading national community development financial institution, and the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Initiative Greater Philadelphia. She graduated from Yale SOM (1993) and holds a B.A. in Political and Social Thought from the University of Virginia.

About Carol:
Carol Tsoi is Director of Acquisitions for Red Stone Equity Partners, where she oversees the Northeast Acquisition department's investment execution, leading a team of investment managers and acquisition analysts. Prior to this role, Carol served as an investment manager and credit underwriter. Carol joined Red Stone in 2019 and has 10 years of experience in real estate development and LIHTC syndication. Before joining Red Stone, Carol was an AmeriCorps VISTA, a community organizer, an affordable housing real estate developer, and a nonprofit consultant. Carol is a graduate of Williams College, where she received a BA in Literary Studies, and a graduate of the Yale School of Management (Class of 2018), where she received an MBA.
