Happy Earth Month, B&E! As we see hints of spring in New Haven, we’re excited to bring you a variety of fun and thought-provoking events for Earth Week from Monday 4/18 through Friday 4/22 (Earth Day!).

  • Environmental Justice 101 - Monday, April 18, 5pm. As an extension of Racial Equity Week, join BSRE, B&E Club, and the Energy Club for an introduction and discussion of important environmental justice issues. CampusGroups registratration link to be shared soon!
  • Author Talk: The Conscious Closet - Monday, April 18, 11:45am. Join us for a special Earth Week discussion with Elizabeth L. Cline, author of The Conscious Closet, a new book that dives into the environmental impact of fashion and how the industry can become more sustainable.  The first 30 attendees will receive a free copy of the book and a Charley’s Place voucher!   • Forestside Chat: Water - Tuesday, April 19, 7pm. Find us at Da Legna for a special Earth Week conversation (no prior knowledge necessary!) on water. Over pizza, we'll talk about the unique importance of water and its effect on natural ecosystems, industries, and societies. In the days leading up to the event, we will be posting relevant articles for our discussion. Register here.
  • Sustainability in Healthcare with J&J Chief Sustainability Officer - Friday, April 22, 11:45am. Join us for a conversation with Paulette Frank (YSE ’96), Chief Sustainability Officer at Johnson & Johnson (J&J), about her sustainability experience and journey, current work at J&J, and challenges and opportunities regarding sustainability in healthcare. Pizza from Yorkside Pizza will be provided. Register here.

  • Planetary Innovation Ideathon - Friday April 22, 10:30 am - 5 pm. Are you frustrated with the current wasteful model of fashion and want to disrupt it to be more circular and sustainable? Join the Planetary Innovation Ideathon, a CBEY-Tsai CITY day-long design thinking sprint to pitch your ideas to experts from Closed Loop Partners, Quantis and Levi’s and get their thoughts and feedback!   • 2022 Sustainable Development in Latin America Conference - Saturday April 23, 8:30am-5:30pm. The conference will have a hybrid format and explore the themes of resistance and resilience in building a sustainable future in the LAC region.
